“Yoga is an art form in which the mind, body and soul are all connected and act as one.”
-from Yoga is an Art Form
Gentle exercise is essential for patients undergoing cancer treatment. In 2012, researchers found that “yoga helped to reduce distress, anxiety, depression, and tiredness (fatigue). It also helped to improve quality of life, emotional well-being and social well-being (in cancer patients.)”
Yoga Day, another non-profit in San Antonio, graciously provides yoga instructors for our movement and meditation classes. Certified yoga instructors accommodate the wide variety of movement and energy limitations experienced by cancer patients. The weekly class provides a welcome respite for patients and family members alike from the rigors of cancer treatment.
You can use the videos below to continue your gentle yoga practice on your own and with friends.
Note: please remember to check with your doctor before you start any exercise program.
